Edible seeds
🐝 AGES 3+ ⌛ 1 HR 🌤 ALL YEAR
A fun-filled journey inside the wonderful world of seeds.
🐝 AGES 3+ ⌛ 1 HR 🌤 ALL YEAR
From the moment they’re formed, to the moment they spring to life with their first sip of water, we take the kids on a fun-filled journey inside the wonderful world of seeds.
INCURSION OUTLINE
First we explore what a seed is and where it comes from.
We then introduce ourselves to a range of seeds through touch, taste and smell.
Next we imagine becoming a seed. The kids love it when we ‘wake up’ the seeds with a light spray of water to allow them to ‘bloom’.
We then make our own potting mix using homemade worm-filled compost.
Next, we collect the worms so they can go home to their farms and friends.
From here, we place our edible seeds into biodegradable pots that can be replanted into the kids’ garden at home.
Next we’ll build our own seed balls that can be thrown, then grown at home.
Decorate paper bags to carry all our goodies home

Worm farming and composting
🐝 AGES 4+ ⌛ 1 HR 🌤 ALL YEAR
We take the kids on a worm safari to discover how they turn waste into wonder.
🐝 AGES 4+ ⌛ 1 HOUR 🌤 AVAILABLE ALL YEAR
In this incursion, we take the kids on a worm safari to discover how they turn waste into wonder.
INCURSION OUTLINE
We identify waste items that worms will eat, focusing on sustainability and recycling.
Next, we head off on a soil safari where we play ‘worm bingo’ and discover what kind of creatures live in the soil and how to deal with them safely.
From there we make ‘worm parcels’ which are like little mobile homes for our worms to help them bed-in to their new worm farm or compost bin.
Now the kids know how to make worm castings and compost, we use these skills to make seed balls filled with homemade compost for the children to take home.
We supply all the materials for this incursion. If you’d like to keep the worm farm or compost bin after the session, let’s discuss how we can help you. For prices and availability, please get in touch by clicking on the button below.

🐝 AGES 3+ ⌛ 1 HOUR 🌤 AVAILABLE ALL YEAR
We look at the power of plants and discover why they’re so important to the world.
INCURSION OUTLINE
We explore all the parts of plant through taste, touch and smell.
We help the kids understand the growth cycle of plants by inviting them to become one. First they imagine they’re seeds and then we ‘wake’ them up with a light spray of water to help them bloom into plants.
Next, we make our own potting mix using homemade-worm-filled compost.
From there, we find and collect some worms to join their friends in a worm farm.
We then plant a range of seasonal edible plants and flowers into take-home biodegradable pots so the kids can plant them at home. If you have an available garden bed, we can plant a range of beautiful plants instead of providing take-home pots.
Lastly, we decorate some paper bags that can carry all of our goodies home.

🐝 AGES 3+ ⌛ 1 HR 🌤 ALL YEAR
Where does water come from, and why is it so important for us and our gardens?
INCURSION OUTLINE
We start by looking at where water comes from and how all living creatures use it. We also have a little fun by jumping, spinning, running and drinking water.
Next we imagine what it would feel like to be a storm. We role-play heavy rain, light showers, swirling wind, rumbling thunder, and lightning.
From there we head out to find a well, and work out the best way to collect and carry our water.
Next we explore what items sink, float, absorb, dissolve, drip or pour water.
Lastly we look at how water is polluted, then discover the best ways to clean it using sieves, tongs and spoons.

🐝 AGES 3+ ⌛ 1 HR 🌤 ALL YEAR
We sample some yummy native foods, spices and fruits, then build our own bush tucker swag to take home.
INCURSION OUTLINE
We start by sharing a range of tasty bush tucker.
Next, we look at what local plants best support our amazing native species and discover how First Nations people might’ve used them.
Through role play and movement, we invite kids to imagine life as their favourite native animal, a native bee, blue tongue, or kangaroo and discover why they have evolved the way they have.
From here, we place our edible and native seeds into biodegradable pots that can be replanted straight into the garden.
Next we’ll build our own native seed balls that can be thrown directly into a garden, or grown at home.
If you have an area that can incorporate a bush tucker garden, we can also add in a planting session. We supply all the materials for this incursion. For prices and availability, please send us an email.

Build sustainable gardens
🐝 AGES 3+ ⌛ 8 WEEKS 🌤 ALL YEAR
Learn how to care for your Early Childhood Centre or Primary School garden for years to come.
🐝 AGES 3+ ⌛ 8 WEEKS 🌤 ALL YEAR
Our goal for this program is to create a gardening community of kids, parents and teachers within your Early Childhood Centre or Primary School who can build, grow and maintain gardens now and into the future.
The full program runs across eight custom-made one-hour sessions, and will give everyone the skills and confidence they need to grow successful gardens. Each session will begin with a pre-class-briefing with your staff, then the rest of the time spent with kids, including plenty of time for questions. The classes work best with a max of 30 kids, however we’re always happy to work around you schools’ specific needs.
Both the Australian Curriculum and National Quality Framework (NQF) are integrated into our programs. And for the parents and teachers, the skills they’ll learn will last a lifetime.
We’ll provide detailed lesson plans to help you teach the program yourselves, as well as manage your garden for years to come.
