We reckon soil’s pretty good for the soul. That’s why in 2012 we launched Urban Grow where we help kids and community groups grow their gardening skills.

With an ever-growing collection of custom programs, hands-on activities and practical know-how, our workshops are designed to get everyone up and growing — no matter your age or skill level.

Our team of growers.

We’ve helped everyone from kindy kids to experienced gardeners grow their skills. Here’s what a few of them have said about us…

“Steven is a captivating and relatable facilitator who has inspired some real change within our ECEC services and we look forward to working with him again in the future.”

— Carli Sandilands, Munch and Move (NSW Health)

“We explored using our senses by smelling, touching and tasting different fruit and vegetables. We also loved the singing and movement aspect of the lessons.”

— Natalie Katz, Director First Class learning Centre, Maroubra

“Urban Grow worked with us from start to finish and gave us the guidance we required to feel confident running gardening lessons - first with them and then on our own.”

Laura Robinson, Croydon Public School

“Thanks ‘Farmer’ Steve for bringing life back to our garden.”

— Natalie Katz, Director First Class learning Centre, Maroubra

“Urban Grow was able to tailor their workshops as well as their delivery methods to suit the needs of the Munch & Move program.”

Emma, Health Promotion Officer, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District

“Steven is an engaging presenter and has conducted workshops for residents (both adults and children) and educators in the local area. He is patient and provides the right amount of information for both novice and experienced gardeners.”

Ju’eta Amir, City of Canada Bay Council

“Urban Grow were fabulous. Each lesson was enjoyed by all the children. We have several children with additional needs and they were included and allowed extra time.”

— Early Childhood Centres, Munch and Move (NSW Health)

“As Steve is so personable, he had the ability to interact with children on their level. The sessions he facilitated were interactive, practical and creative, always aiming to engage his target group of children aged 3-5.”

— Alexandra Koukoumas, Munch and Move (NSW Health)

“The kids loved searching through the compost for bugs, then going on a bug hunt. Another favourite part of the program was building houses for insects. Some children chose to revisit this later, adding to their houses and checking for visitors.”

Helen, Drummoyne Pre-School Kindergarten
